Satinath Bhaduri was a Bengali Indian novelist and politician. He was known by his literary pseudonym, Chitra Gupta. His ancestral home was in Krishnanagar in the district of Nadia. He obtained an MA degree in Economics from the University of Patna in 1930. In 1931 he completed his BL degree. He started practising law at Patna between 1932 and 1939. Ashapurna Devi (Bengali: আশাপূর্ণা দেবী), also Ashapoorna Debi or Asha Purna Devi, is a prominent Bengali novelist and poet. She has been widely honoured with a number of prizes and awards. She was awarded 1976 Jnanpith Award and the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 1976; D.Litt by the Universities of Jabalpur, Rabindra Bharati, Burdwan and Jadavpur. Vishwa Bharati University honoured her with Deshikottama in 1989. Moti Nandi

Moti Nandi was a sports journalist and worked as a sports editor in Anandabazar Patrika. He was awarded the Lifetime Achievement award (2008) at a glittering ceremony to mark the grand finale of the maiden edition of the Excellence in Journalism Awards.

Gajendrakumar Mitra

Gajendra Kumar Mitra was born on 11 November 1908. He was a versatile writer. He wrote many novels, short stories, plays, essays and poems. Mitra also translated a few English novels into Bengali, such as Dickens's A Tale of Two Cities . He used to write with his left hand. His genuine love and concern for Bengali literature inspired him to co-found the famous Mitra and Ghosh Publishers. Mitra was childless. He died on 16 October 1994 in Calcutta (now Kolkata).

Samaresh Majumdar

Samaresh Majumdar (Bangla: সমরেশ মজুমদার) was a well-known Bengali writer. He spent his childhood years in the tea gardens of Duars, Jalpaiguri, West Bengal, India. He was a student of the Jalpaiguri Zilla School, Jalpaiguri. He completed his bachelors in Bengali from Scottish Church College, Kolkata. His first story appeared in "Desh" (a Bengali magazine) in 1967. "Dour" (Run) was his first novel, which was published in "Desh" in 1976.

Binoy Majumdar

Late Binoy Majumdar was born in Myanmar (erstwhile Burma) on the 17th of September 1934. His family later moved to what is now West Bengal in India. Binoy loved mathematics from his early youth. He completed 'Intermediate' (pre-University) from the Presidency College of the University of Calcutta. Although he graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering graduate from Bengal Engineering College, Calcutta, in 1957, Binoy turned to poetry later in life. বশীর আল-হেলালের জন্ম মুর্শিদাবাদ জেলার তালিবপুর গ্রামের মীর পাড়ায় ১৯৩৬ সালের ৬ জানুয়ারি। ছোটবেলা থেকেই তিনি লেখালেখি করতেন। ১৯৫৬ সালে কলকাতা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় থেকে দ্বিতীয় বিভাগে বাংলায় এম এ পাস করেন। তাঁর প্রথম গল্পের বই 'স্বপ্নের কুশীলব' কলকাতা থেকে প্রকাশিত হয়। ১৯৬৮ সালের শুরুর দিকে তিনি মাকে নিয়ে চলে আসেন ঢাকায়। তারপর ১৯৬৯ সালের শুরুতে সহ-অধ্যক্ষ হিসেবে নিযুক্ত হন বাংলা একাডেমিতে। ১৯৭১ সালে মুক্তিযুদ্ধে সক্রিয়ভাবে অংশগ্রহণ করেন। আর চব্বিশ বছর বাংলা একাডেমিতে কাজ করার পর ১৯৯৩ সালে পরিচালক পদে থেকে অবসর নেন।

Μαρία Ιορδανίδου

Maria Iordanidou
Γεννήθηκε στην Κωνσταντινούπολη το 1897 και έζησε τα παιδικά της χρόνια στον Πειραιά και το Βατούμ της Ρωσίας. Φοίτησε σε ρωσικό γυμνάσιο, στη Σταυρούπολη, όπου τη βρήκε η Οκτωβριανή Επανάσταση. Το 1919 γύρισε στην Κωνσταντινούπολη και λίγο αργότερα πήγε στην Αλεξάνδρεια, όπου παντρεύτηκε τον Ιορδάνη Ιορδανίδη. Το 1923 επέστρεψαν μαζί στην Αθήνα, αλλά σύντομα ο Ιορδανίδης έφυγε.

Εξαιτίας των συνθηκών της ζωής της, η Ιορδανίδου απέκτησε μεγάλη γλωσσομάθεια και εργάστηκε ως ιδιωτική υπάλληλος. Έγινε γνωστή στο λογοτεχνικό χώρο με το έργο Λωξάντρα, που έγραψε σε ηλικία 65 χρονών, το 1962, και γνώρισε πολλές επανεκδόσεις. Srijato Bandopadhyay (born 21 December 1975 in Kolkata), is an eminent poet of the Bengali younger generation. He won the Ananda Puroskar in 2004 for his book Udanta Sawb Joker: All Those Flying Jokers. He has also attended a writer's workshop at the University of Iowa.
