Alia Trabucco Zerán
Alia Trabucco Zerán (born 1983) is a Chilean writer. She was awarded a Fulbright scholarship for her MFA in Creative Writing at New York University and has a PhD in Spanish and Latin American Studies from University College London. Her debut novel La Resta (The Remainder) was critically acclaimed. The English translation was shortlisted for the Man Booker International Prize in 2019.

Carlson was born in Logan, Utah, but grew up in Salt Lake City. He earned a masters degree in English from the University of Utah. He then taught at The Hotchkiss School in Connecticut where he started his first novel.

Nació en Santiago en 1948, en medio de una familia de artistas, "un mundo en donde escribir, pintar, leer y esculpir eran cosas propias de la vida" ("Una obra para los 'ojos que no ven'", La Segunda, 24 de marzo de 1979, p. 23). Su bisabuelo Carlos Lagarrigue fue escultor, al igual que su abuela, Teresa Lagarrigue, mientras que su abuelo paterno, Carlos Vicuña, fue escritor. Estudió en el Liceo Manuel de Salas y, posteriormente, Arte en la Universidad de Chile. A los 16 años, en Concón, ideó el concepto de las "esculturas precarias", construidas a partir de desechos del mar.

Teresa de las Mercedes Wilms Montt, nació el 8 de septiembre de 1893 en la ciudad de Viña del Mar, en el seno de una acomodada familia compuesta por Federico Guillermo Wilms Montt y Brieba, y su señora Luz Victoria Montt y Montt.
