Zahir Raihan (Bangla: জহির রায়হান) was a Bangladeshi novelist, writer and filmmaker. He is perhaps best known for his documentary Stop Genocide made during the Bangladesh Liberation War.

He was an active worker of the Language Movement of 1952. The effect of Language Movement was so high on him that he made his legendary film Jibon Theke Neya based on it. In 1971 he joined in the Liberation War of Bangladesh and created documentary films on this great event.

Hasan Azizul Huq

Hasan Azizul Huq (Bengali: হাসান আজিজুল হক) is a Bangladeshi writer, reputed for his short stories. He was born on 2 February, 1939 in Jabgraam in Burdwan district of West Bengal, India. However, later his parents moved to Fultala, near the city of Khulna, Bangladesh. He was a professor in the department of philosophy in Rajshahi University.

Huq is well known for his experiments with the language and introducing modern idioms in his writings. His use of language and symbolism has earned him critical acclaim. His stories explore the psychological depths of human beings as well as portray the lives of the peasants of Bangladesh.

Chinmoy Guha (born in September 1958 in Kolkata, India) is a professor and former Head of the department of English at the University of Calcutta, a Bengali essayist and translator, and a scholar of French language and literature. Paritosh Sen (Bengali: পরিতোষ সেন) was a leading Indian artist. He was born in Dhaka (then known as Dacca), the present-day capital of Bangladesh. He was a founder member of the Calcutta Group, an art movement established in 1942 that did much to introduce modernism into Indian art.

Sa. Kandasamy (23 July 1940 – 31 July 2020) was a novelist and documentary film-maker from Mayiladuthurai in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. He won the Sahitya Akademi Award in Tamil for his novel, Vicharanai Commission in 1998.

Kandasamy's first novel was Saayavanam Puthinam, published in 1968. It was well-received and was later included by the National Book Trust as one of Indian literature's modern masterpieces. Saayavanam is one of the earliest examples of literature focusing on ecological concerns in India, and focuses on forest clearances and industrial development in Tamil Nadu. Bimal Mukherjee

Bimal Mukherjee (Bengali: বিমল মুখার্জী / বিমল মুখোপাধ্যায়) (1903–1996) was the first Indian globe trotter who travelled the entire world on a bicycle from the year 1926 to 1937. He wrote the book Du Chakay Duniya (দু'চাকায় দুনিয়া) about his experiences.

The world voyage started on bicycle from Town Hall, Calcutta on December 12, 1926 and halted at Chandannagar for the first night.

He and his three friends had crossed the Bohemian Alps in bicycles wearing flannel shirts and no woolen clothing in the month of December. They had kept warm by cycling vigorously and alternated keeping one hand in their pockets to prevent frostbite. When asked how they did the amazing feat. He had replied, "We are carrying the sun rays from India!".

Gajendrakumar Mitra

Gajendra Kumar Mitra was born on 11 November 1908. He was a versatile writer. He wrote many novels, short stories, plays, essays and poems. Mitra also translated a few English novels into Bengali, such as Dickens's A Tale of Two Cities . He used to write with his left hand. His genuine love and concern for Bengali literature inspired him to co-found the famous Mitra and Ghosh Publishers. Mitra was childless. He died on 16 October 1994 in Calcutta (now Kolkata).
