Nasceu em Lisboa em 1982 e começou a escrever histórias aos 10 anos.
Estudou Línguas e Literaturas Modernas (Estudos Portugueses e Alemães) na Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa.
Saiu de Portugal com 22 anos para fazer um estágio de 6 meses na Alemanha e nunca mais voltou. Vive em Bruxelas desde 2007, onde trabalha como tradutora.
Tem contos publicados em várias coletâneas e textos premiados em Portugal (incluindo Jovens Criadores '10, Aveiro Jovem Criador 2010 e Jovens Criadores '12) e também noutras paragens (Concurso internacional de contos «Um mar de palavras» 2010, Espanha, Concurso Internacional de Teatro Castello di Duino 2011, Itália).

Sfar is considered one of the most important artists of the new wave of Franco-Belgian comics. Many of his comics were published by L'Association which was founded in 1990 by Jean-Christophe Menu and six other artists.
