Pierre la Mure

Pierre La Mure (15 June 1899, Nice, Alpes-Maritimes - 1976, California) was a French author. He wrote the 1950 novel Moulin Rouge about the life of the French artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. This book was the basis of the classic 1952 movie of the same name. La Mure also wrote the book Beyond Desire about the life of Cécile and Felix Mendelssohn and the biographical novel "Claire de Lune" on the life and struggles of French composer Claude Debussy, published in 1962.

Alexander Mikhailovich

Grand Duke Alexander Mihailovich of Russia was a naval officer, an author, explorer, the brother-in-law and advisor of Emperor Nicholas II.

Alexander played a major role in the creation of Russian military aviation. He was the initiator of the officer's aviation school near Sevastopol in 1910 and later the chief of the Imperial Russian Air Service during the First World War.

In 1917 he went into exile and wrote his memoirs and became fascinated with archaeology and conducted a number of expeditions.

Many years ago I cofounded a whale center in northern Norway and I remain involved in cetacean research and conservation. I have served as the director of exhibitions at the Natural History Museum of Denmark and has twenty years’ experience making science and natural history accessible to the general public.

Albert Cossery (November 3, 1913 – June 22, 2008) was an Egyptian-born French writer of Greek Orthodox Syrian and Lebanese descent, born in Cairo.

Son of small property owners in Cairo, at the age of 17, inspired by reading Honoré de Balzac, Albert Cossery ( Arabic: البرت قصيري) emigrated to Paris.
