Gustav Torgny Lindgren was a Swedish writer.
Lindgren was the son of Andreas Lindgren and Helga Björk. He studied in Umeå to become a teacher and worked as a teacher until the middle of the 1970s. He was for several years active as a local politician for the Swedish Social Democratic Party. In the 1980s he converted to the Catholic faith.

Lindgren began as a poet in 1965 but had to wait until 1982 for his breakthrough, with The Way of a Serpent (Swedish: Ormens väg på hälleberget). Lindgren has been translated into more than thirty languages and was one of Sweden's most internationally successful contemporary writers. He became a member of the Swedish Academy in 1991.

Peter Wessel Zapffe [pronounced ZAP-fe] was a Norwegian philosopher, author and mountaineer. He was well known for his somewhat pessimistic view of human existence and his philosophy is widely considered to be pessimistic, much like the earlier work of Arthur Schopenhauer, by whom he was inspired. His thoughts regarding the error of human existence are presented in the essay, The Last Messiah (original: Den sidste Messias, 1933). Torbjørn Færøvik (f. 1948) er cand. philol. med kinesisk historie som hovedfelt. Han har nær tretti års praksis som journalist, blant annet fra NRK, hvor han var utenriksmedarbeider fra 1991 til 1999.

Færøvik har utgitt flere kritikerroste reiseskildringer og ungdomsbøker. Brit Bildøen (født 28. januar 1962 i Ålesund) er en norsk forfatter og lyriker, oppvokst på Aukra. Bildøen er utdannet som, og har arbeidet som bibliotekar, har studert sosiologi og gått på Skrivekunstakademiet i Hordaland. Hun arbeider nå som forfatter, gjendikter, oversetter, forlagskonsulent og litteraturkritiker, blant annet for Dagbladet fra 1996. Hun har vært medlem av Den norske forfatterforeningens litterære Råd. Hun var i 2001 festspilldikter for Dei nynorske festspela i Ørsta.

Alexander L. Kielland

Of the most famous realistic writer of the 19th century, Alexander Lange Kielland ranks as one of the "four greats" of Norwegian literature alongside Henrik Ibsen, Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson, and Jonas Lie.

Born wealthy, he as a factory owner with a sincere affection for the less fortunate treated his workers well. He, a critic of society throughout his time as a writer, spoke for the weak. His best known plays were the satirical comedies Tre Par (1886) and Professoren (1888). He was also well known for his short stories.

Among his most famous works are the novels Gift (1883), Skipper Worse (1882) and Garman & Worse (1880). Gift (published in English as Poison ) is the first of a trilogy including Fortuna (1884) and St. Hans Fest (1887).

Daniel Sjölin

Daniel Sjölin, född 31 oktober 1977 i Bålsta, Håbo, är en svensk författare och programledare.

Daniel Sjölin är författare och var under sju år programledare för litteraturprogrammet Babel SVT. För det senare tilldelades han 2008 Örjan Lindbergerpriset för att ha gjort "den goda litteraturen tillgänglig för en bred publik". Han har även varit litteraturkritiker för bl.a. Svenska Dagbladet och BLM, samt redaktör för tidskriften Lyrikvännen. Sjölin nominerades till Augustpriset 2007 för Världens sista roman.

2012 blev Daniel Sjölin hedersdoktor vid humanistiska fakulteten vid Göteborgs universitet.

Sigurd Hoel

Sigurd Hoel was a Norwegian author and publishing consultant.
His literary career began with the short story «Idioten» («the Idiot») from 1918, when he won a writing contest. The same year he became an employee of «Socialdemokraten» («The Social Democrat», a newspaper) as a literature and theater critic.

In 1924 he traveled to Berlin to study socialism, and there he wrote his first novel, «Syvstjernen» (The Seven Star), before moving to Paris for a short time.

During the war Hoel and his wife went back to Odalen. He participated in the Resistance, and wrote articles for the Resistance press. In 1943 he was forced to flee to Sweden.
