I'm an illustrator who loves making books. I've had a few different jobs over the years, but my favourite before this one was making pizzas. If you can think of it, I have probably tried it on a pizza. Chips work surprisingly well as a topping. Donuts, not so much.

So far I've written the words and drawn the pictures for five picture books, including “The Dragon with the Blazing Bottom” and “Big Bad Dragon Club”. I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy them a lot more than my pizzas. -

Third grade, eight lines. First prize in a school-district-wide poetry contest.
My little ode to a runoff creek that ran through our Northern California subdivision was published in a paperback compilation of schoolkids' poems, plus posted under glass in my city's central library, blue ribbon attached, for all to see.
I was hooked.
Writing was fun to do, like stringing beads or working a puzzle, each word carefully chosen and placed just so. And now it could earn me the admiration of my peers, the approval of teachers and parents, and a niche to call my own. As the eternal new kid—Dad's climb up the corporate ladder kept us moving every couple of years—I was always struggling to fit in. Writing helped me find my place.

I grew up in a tall Victorian London house with my parents, grandmother, aunt, uncle, younger sister Mary and cat Geoffrey (who was really a prince in disguise. Mary and I would argue about which of us would marry him).
Mary and I were always creating imaginary characters and mimicking real ones, and I used to write shows and choreograph ballets for us. A wind-up gramophone wafted out Chopin waltzes.
I studied Drama and French at Bristol University, where I met Malcolm, a guitar-playing medic to whom I’m now married.

Before Malcolm and I had our three sons we used to go busking together and I would write special songs for each country; the best one was in Italian about pasta.

David Wiesner
During David Wiesner's formative years, the last images he saw before closing his eyes at night were the books, rockets, elephant heads, clocks, and magnifying glasses that decorated the wallpaper of his room. Huy Voun Lee
I was born in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. My family came to the United States in 1975 as refugees. We became citizens in 1983. I am a Children’s books illustrator. Sometimes, I also write my own books. Like most artist, I enjoy experimenting with different media. My favorite medium is paper, because it offers me the most versatility to create 2D or 3D art. If my works can make someone smile, then I think I succeeded my goal as an artist. I hope my works brighten your day!
