Melissa Castrillón
Melissa Castrillón is a freelance English-Colombian illustrator. She studied illustration and children's book illustration at the Cambridge School of Art. Her early years were spent drawing and climbing trees, and now she spends most of her time drawing while in her pajamas and daydreaming about climbing trees. She has illustrated many acclaimed picture books including The Balcony, If I Had a Little Dream, and Yellow Kayak. She lives in Cambridge, England.

Maria Eugenia Manrique
María Eugenia Manrique was born in Caracas, Venezuela, and currently lives in Barcelona, Spain. She studied fine art in Mexico City, specializing in xylography and engraving; Eastern painting at Nankín University, China; and sumi-e and calligraphy at the Nihon Shuji Kyoiku Zaidan Foundation in Japan. I grew up in a tall Victorian London house with my parents, grandmother, aunt, uncle, younger sister Mary and cat Geoffrey (who was really a prince in disguise. Mary and I would argue about which of us would marry him).
Mary and I were always creating imaginary characters and mimicking real ones, and I used to write shows and choreograph ballets for us. A wind-up gramophone wafted out Chopin waltzes.
I studied Drama and French at Bristol University, where I met Malcolm, a guitar-playing medic to whom I’m now married.
Busking and books
Before Malcolm and I had our three sons we used to go busking together and I would write special songs for each country; the best one was in Italian about pasta.

Törnqvist was born in 1964, in Sweden, to the author-illustrator Rita Törnqvist-Verschuur and Egil Törnqvist, a professor and academic literary critic. At the age of five, she moved to the Netherlands with her family, where she still lives today.
From 1982 to 1987 Törnqvist went to the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. In 1989, she illustrated her first book The Christmas Carp , a collaboration with her mother.
