Buddingh' publiceert nemen ze - bewust of onbewust - ergens niet: die 'C' moet en zal een naam worden. En zo prijk je - zonder dat je het zelf wilt - op de meest uiteenlopende plaatsen als 'Cees', een voornaam die ik zelf wel als laatste zou uitkiezen." Buddingh' maakte zelf altijd onderscheid tussen de persoonsnaam Cornelis (Kees) Buddingh' en de auteursnaam C. Buddingh'.
