Selva Almada (Entre Ríos, Argentina, 1973) is considered one of the most powerful voices of contemporary Argentinian and Latin American literature and one of the most influential feminist intellectuals of the region. Including her début The Wind that Lays Waste, she has published three novels, a book of short stories, a book of journalistic fiction (Dead Girls) and a kind of film diary (written in the set of Lucrecia Martel’s most recent film Zama, based on Antonio di Benedetto’s novel). Taeko Kōno was born April 30, 1926 in Osaka, Japan to Tameji and Yone Kōno; her father was a wholesale merchant. She was ill as a child and as a teenager, she was conscripted to work in a factory during World War II.
After the war, she finished her economics degree at Women’s University (currently Osaka Prefecture University), graduating in 1947. She has said that at this time "she felt a new sense of freedom and had an urge to do something, but was not sure what". She joined literary groups, eventually moving to Tokyo, Japan. Harry Kressing
Harry Kressing is the pseudonym of Harry Adam Ruber. He was born in New York in 1928, the son of Harry and Jean Ruber. He attended Indiana University and went on to be a lawyer and also served in the U.S. Air Force. Little is known about Ruber, though he and his wife apparently lived for some time on the west coast of Ireland and also in London, where he researched at the London School of Economics. In late 1980s, Ruber relocated to Minnesota, where his elderly father lived, and died in there in December 1990.

Nació en el departamento jujeño de Ledesma en 1922. A los 18 años comenzó a ejercer como maestra de escuelas en Jujuy hasta 1940, cuando viajó a Buenos Aires para estudiar letras. En 1978 se publica una de sus novelas más importantes, La flor de hierro y, tres años más tarde, Río de las congojas. Contrajo matrimonio con el poeta Joaquín Giannuzzi en 1951.
Un año antes de su muerte, recibe el Premio Boris Vian por Río de las congojas. Falleció en la Ciudad de Buenos Aires el 19 de julio de 1998.

Petros Markaris (Greek: Πέτρος Μάρκαρης) was born in Istanbul to an Armenian father and a Greek mother. He is one of the most successful living Greek authors.
