Meltem Gürle, 1966 da Almanya'da doğdu. Çocukluğunu İzmir'de, öğrencilik yıllarını İstanbul'da geçirdi. Felsefe ve edebiyat eğitimi aldı. Boğaziçi Üniversitesi Yabancı Diller Yüksek Okulu'nda edebiyat ve eleştiri dersleri verdi. 2009-2016 arasında BirGün gazetesinde yazdığı edebiyat yazılarından oluşan Kırmızı Kazak (2016) adlı denemeleri, Oğuz Atay'ın Batı kanonuyla diyaloğunu incelediği Ölülerle Konuşmak (2016) adlı bir araştırması ve çocuklar için yazdığı Roko ile Konuşmalar (2018) adlı bir felsefe kitabı vardır.

He graduated from the Sun Education High School. He studied at Law School for some time (1913) and then educated himself.
He lived abroad for eight years in Tiflis, Berlin, Paris, Vienna, Rome and Copenhagen (1915-28). He worked as a translator at the Ministry of National Education.
He translated and wrote columns for various newspapers and journals beginning with Cumhuriyet. He traveled around many cities in Anatolia.

Giovanni Scognamillo was born to a family of Italian Levantines; his father was the son of an immigrant from Naples and his mother was descended from Genoese settlers of Tinos. His father Leone being the manager of the prestigious movie theatre Elhamra Sineması of Beyoğlu, he became acquainted with cinema in early years of his life.
