Emmanuelle Laborit

Emmanuelle Laborit est née le 18 octobre 1971 à Paris. Née sourde.

Elle a reçu le Molière de la révélation théâtrale, en 1993, pour son rôle dans Les Enfants du silence, adapté de la pièce américaine du même nom écrite par Mark Medoff : elle est la première comédienne sourde à avoir reçu, en France, une telle récompense. Yu-Mei Balasingamchow

Yu-Mei Balasingamchow is the co-author of the non-fiction title Singapore: A Biography (2009), and co-editor of the literary collection, In Transit: An Anthology from Singapore on Airports and Air Travel (2016). Sara Aboobacker (30 June 1936 – 10 January 2023) was an Indian Kannada writer of novels and short stories, and a translator.

Sara was born in Kasaragod, Kerala on 30 June 1936, to Pudiyapuri Ahmad and Zainabi Ahmad. She had four brothers. She was one of the first girls in her community of Muslim families in Kasaragod to be educated, graduating from a local Kannada school. She was married after school, and went on to have four sons. Aboobacker once stated that her desire to further her education was constrained by community norms that restricted female access to higher education, and that she was only able to obtain a library membership in 1963.
