Mi sono formato alla Normale di Pisa, ho insegnato a lungo alla Federico II di Napoli e ora sono professore ordinario di Storia dell’Arte Moderna all’Università per Stranieri di Siena.
Sono convinto che gli storici dell’arte servano a fare entrare le opere d’arte nella vita intellettuale ed emotiva di chi si occupa di tutt’altro.
Penso anche che l’amore per la storia dell’arte non debba essere un fatto privato (o peggio un’evasione, o un modo per non pensare), ma pubblico e ‘politico’.
