Nicoletta Bortolotti nasce in Svizzera, ma è italiana d'adozione. A Milano si ambienta e lavora presso Mondadori, dopo aver cambiato molte attività e occupazioni. Si occupa della parte redazionale che riguarda i lavori dedicati alle serie per ragazzi, ma non solo.

È autrice di diversi libri, ha scritto e pubblicato per le case editrici italiane più importanti: da Mondadori a Baldini & Castoldi, passando per Sperling & Kupfer.
Ha scritto il libro di genere umoristico Neomamme allo stato brado per Baldini & Castoldi Dalai nel 2005, in seguito si è tanto parlato dell'opera Il filo di Cloe che ha pubblicato con Sperling & Kupfer ed è passata alla nuova opera E qualcosa rimane per la stessa casa editrice.
