Born in 1996 in San Diego, California, Walden graduated from the Center for Cartoon Studies in Vermont, where she is currently a professor.
Walden started publishing short comics when she was just a teenager. Her first long-form graphic novel The End of Summer was published by the British publisher Avery Hill in 2015. Her second book I Love This Part came out only a few months later, winning the 2016 Ignatz Award for promising new talent. Riyoko Ikeda (池田理代子) is a Japanese manga author and soprano singer.
As one of the 24-gumi, she has written and illustrated many shōjo manga, many of which are based on European historical events, such as the French Revolution or the Russian Revolution.

Her most famous manga is Versailles no bara (ベルサイユのばら, The rose of Versailles).
Other famous works include Oniisama e... (おにいさまへ…, Dear Brother) and Orpheus no mado (オルフェウスの窓, The Window of Orpheus) that won an Excellence award at Japan Cartoonists Association Award in 1980.

Marzena Sowa is a Polish cartoonist. Since 2001, she has been living in France and Brussels. Sowa studied at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow and then at the Michel de Montaigne University in Bordeaux. Sowa is the author of the autobiographical comic Marzi, a series of comics about her childhood in 1980s-era Poland. She writes about life under communism, food shortages, and her childish escapades. The illustrator is Sylvain Savoia, Sowa's life partner. So far, six volumes of Marzi have been published by comic book publisher Dupuis. In Poland, the first three volumes were collected and published by Egmont. Marzi is also translated into Spanish and, in 2011, into English.

I'm a Finnish-Swedish lady, born in Sweden in 1990 and living in Finland during 1997-2013, and now I'm currently living in Sweden again for a little while. I got myself a bachelor's degree in graphic design from the university of industrial arts in Helsinki in 2013, and during my two final years of those studies I drew my first real webcomic, A Redtail's dream, a 556 page tale built around some concepts of Finnish mythology.

I also ran a crowdfunding campaign for a printed book version of A Redtail's Dream, and it went so well that I'll be able to work full time as a webcomic creator with the profits and only draw SSSS for a while.

Fumio Obata

Fumio Obata is a comic book author whose work and inspiration come from cultural differences and social issues in his surroundings. He is also a visual artist in his own right.

Fumio was born in Tokyo and grew up with the Manga and Anime cultures of the 1970’s and 80’s. Always fond of drawing, at school his exercise books were always full of cartoon sketches. In 1991 he moved to the UK and has been living on the British soil since.
