Vahdettin Engin
Yakınçağ Osmanlı tarihi uzmanı olan ve özellikle Sultan Abdülhamit dönemine ve Türkiye'de ulaşım tarihine ilişkin araştırmalarıyla tanınan Prof. Dr. Vahdettin Engin, 1956 yılında Kocaeli’nin Yarımca ilçesinde doğdu.İlköğrenimini Yarımca’da tamamladı. 1977 yılında Galatasaray Lisesi'ni bitirdi ve 1982 yılında İstanbul Üniversitesi Edebiyat Fakültesi Yakınçağ Tarihi Kürsüsü’nden mezun oldu. 1983 yılında Marmara Üniversitesi Atatürk Eğitim Fakültesi’nde araştırma görevlisi olarak akademik hayatına başladı. 1986 yılında "Ahmet Rıza Bey ve Siyasi Faaliyetleri" konulu yüksek lisans tezini, 1992 yılında "Rumeli Demiryolları" konulu araştırması ile doktora çalışmasını tamamladı. 1995 yılında doçent, 2002’de profesör unvanını aldı.
