Tony Park

Tony Park was born in 1964 and grew up in the western suburbs of Sydney. He has worked as a newspaper reporter in Australia and England, a government press secretary, a public relations consultant, and a freelance writer.

He served 34 years in the Australian Army Reserve, including six months in Afghanistan in 2002.

Tony and his wife, Nicola, split their time between Australia and Africa, where they own a house on the edge of of the Kruger National Park.

His 18th African novel, Last Survivor, went to number 1 in South Africa. His 19th novel, Blood Trail, will be released worldwide on August 1, 2021.

Tony Maxwell

Born and educated in South Africa, Tony Maxwell settled for a time in London. While travelling in Mexico and Canada, he met his wife Wendy, a fellow South African. They lived for 12 years in Australia before returning to Canada where they now live. Beverley Harper

Beverley Harper was born in Bulli on the New South Wales south coast. In 1967 she travelled to Africa, intending to spend one year there. She stayed twenty, returning to settle in Australia in 1988. Despite loving the northern tablelands, the memories of Africa have provided the inspiration for her best-selling novels and she visited that continent for research purposes once a year.

Beverley Harper died of cancer in 2002. She rests at peace in the Africa she so loved. Her ashes lay by the Boteti River in Botswana, below a lodge called Leroo-la-Tau. It means footprints of lion.

J. Percy FitzPatrick

Sir James Percy FitzPatrick, KCMG, known as Percy FitzPatrick, was a South African author, politician, mining financier and pioneer of the fruit industry. He authored the classic children's book, Jock of the Bushveld (1907).

The Percy Fitzpatrick Institute of African Ornithology at the University of Cape Town was named in his honour.

Motor trails in the eastern part of South Africa follow the trails used by Fitzpatrick and Jock in their travels between the gold mines and the harbour at Delagoa Bay in Mozambique. The most well-known of these are those in the Kruger National Park.
