I'm Suhasini Gupta, author of Kai Po Che: Mini's Perfect Kite. Flying kites is one of my fondest childhood memories during my summer visits to my grandparents.
This story was inspired by the saying, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!” After being stuck at home for over two years during the pandemic, my kids and I eagerly looked forward to the annual Indian Kite Festival. Unfortunately, we missed the event, and the disappointment felt a lot like the moment when your kite gets cut by someone else. That feeling of disappointment sparked the idea for Kai Po Che: Mini’s Perfect Kite.
