Dawid Sierakowiak

Dawid Sierakowiak was born in Poland in July 1924. He began his diary when he was fourteen, before the German invasion of Poland, and continued it until April 1943. He and his family were confined to the Lodz Ghetto, where Dawid recorded the deportation of his mother, the death of his father, and the starvation and suffering of all. He died of tuberculosis and starvation in the ghetto on August 8, 1943. He was nineteen years old. His younger sister, the last survivor of the family, was deported to Auschwitz in 1944 and presumably died there.

Haratischwili was born and raised in Tbilisi, Georgia, where she attended a German-language school. Giovanni Scognamillo was born to a family of Italian Levantines; his father was the son of an immigrant from Naples and his mother was descended from Genoese settlers of Tinos. His father Leone being the manager of the prestigious movie theatre Elhamra Sineması of Beyoğlu, he became acquainted with cinema in early years of his life. After graduation from Liceo Italiano, he started to write cinema articles for various Italian language media. By 1961, he began his career in Turkish language press.

Scognamillo is the author of several books on the history of cinema, as well as diverse topics such as fantastique and occultism, currently working as a lecturer of Turkish cinema at Bahçeşehir University.
