Rafael Chaparro Madiedo

Hijo del ingeniero Rafael Chaparro Beltrán y la profesora Amintia Madiedo, pasó su infancia y adolescencia en el barrio Niza, que posteriormente fue tema de varios artículos periodísticos suyos. Estudió en el Colegio Helvetia y en la Universidad de los Andes, en la facultad de Filosofía y Letras. Con dos compañeros, funda allí una revista, Hojalata y conoce a Jorge Mario Eastman, gracias al cual comienza a trabajar como redactor cultural en la revista Consigna. En 1987 se gradúa con una tesis sobre Heidegger. Viaja a Montpellier, y al regresar comienza trabajar en el diario La Prensa.
En 1989 conoce a Ava Echeverri, su esposa hasta 1993; ese mismo año viaja a Cuba donde asiste al curso de guiones de García Márquez . Al año siguiente Paula Ar
