Luis Figueredo was born and raised in the Bronx, New York. He completed his undergraduate degree in History from Brandeis University in Massachusetts and earned his law degree from Harvard Law School. He is the first in-house City Attorney for the City of Doral. During his legal profession, he has represented a diverse group of clients which include municipalities, national trade associations, corporations, real estate developers, and Indian Tribes. Luis is a big sports fan and movie buff. He still roots for N.Y. sports teams-Mets, Jets and Knicks. He is also a big fan of college basketball. In the winter and spring you can find him and his daughter Jordan (Jojo) cheering on the Florida State Seminoles.
Hello fellow book-lover! The Telling Time is my debut novel and embraces all that I love myself in a book: a dash of historical learning; strong characters you don't want to leave behind; descriptions that transport; themes/issues that invite discussion; and a story that is hard to put down.
My travels through the former Yugoslavia informed The Telling Time but the connections I forged within the local Croatian community while researching immigrant stories were inspirational. The novel took me six years to write and along the way I completed a Masters in Creative Writing from the University of Auckland.

Writing is one of those things that I have always done. I vividly remember spending most of an English exam writing a complicated adventure story as the answer to an exam question. I passed the exam, either because of, or despite the answer.
I tend to write the story that comes to mind, regardless of genre.
