Augusta Owens is a queer American author living in Spain with her mother and their excessive number of pets. She likes music, books, and various forms of art. She began writing her debut novel, The Hummingbird Coven, at thirteen years old in order to win a bet and has been writing novels ever since, featuring kids who have no idea what they’re doing, chaotic sapphics, and fantasy worlds (because our real one is way too boring).
My love of movies, such as "Psycho" (1960), "Silence of the Lambs" (1991), and "Joker" (2019) have long fueled my interest in psychological thrillers. I classify my books as edgy cozy mysteries, choosing to blend suspense, shocking twists, and deeply disturbed villains, with a sprinkle of romance and satisfying endings. My stories prominently feature dogs, which I love, focusing primarily on working dogs because I find their unique skills fascinating. My husband, two wonderful black Labrador Retrievers, and I live in picturesque New England. Some of my best ideas come when I’m out walking with "my guys."
