Àngel Guimerà i Jorge (Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 6 de maig de 1845 - Barcelona, 18 de juliol de 1924) fou dramaturg, polític i poeta en llengua catalana. Jesús Moncada

Jesús Moncada i Estruga fou un escriptor en llengua catalana nascut a Mequinensa (Baix Cinca) el 1941 i mort a Barcelona el 13 de juny de 2005. La població de la Franja d'Aragó, on va viure fins a la seva desaparició anegada per l'embassament de Riba-roja d'Ebre, és l'escenari principal de la seva obra literària.

Se'l considera un dels autors en català més importants de la seva època i va rebre premis per la seva obra, entre d'altres el Premi Ciutat de Barcelona o el Premio de la Crítica el 1988 per Camí de sirga o la Creu de Sant Jordi, atorgada per la Generalitat de Catalunya l'any 2001. Narcís Oller

Narcís Oller (Valls, 1846 - Barcelona, 1930). Primer gran novel·lista català de la Renaixença, és considerat el creador de la novel·la catalana moderna. Ocupa un lloc destacat en el marc global de la novel·la realista gràcies a obres com La papallona (1882), L'Escanyapobres (1884), Vilaniu (1885), La febre d'or (1890-1892), La bogeria (1899) o Pilar Prim (1906). Maj Sjöwall

Maj Sjöwall was a Swedish author and translator. She was best known for the collaborative work with her partner Per Wahlöö on a series of ten novels about the exploits of Martin Beck, a police detective in Stockholm. In 1971, the fourth of these books, The Laughing Policeman (a translation of Den skrattande polisen, originally published in 1968) won an Edgar Award from the Mystery Writers of America for Best Novel. They also wrote novels separately.

Amélie Nothomb, born Fabienne Claire Nothomb, was born in Etterbeek, Belgium on 9 July 1966, to Belgian diplomats. Although Nothomb claims to have been born in Japan, she actually began living in Japan at the age of two until she was five years old. Subsequently, she lived in China, New York, Bangladesh, Burma, the United Kingdom (Coventry) and Laos.
She is from a distinguished Belgian political family; she is notably the grand-niece of Charles-Ferdinand Nothomb, a Belgian foreign minister (1980-1981). Friedrich Dürrenmatt

Friedrich Dürrenmatt (1921 – 1990) was a Swiss author and dramatist.

Dürrenmatt was born in the Emmental (canton of Bern), the son of a Protestant pastor. His grandfather Ulrich Dürrenmatt was a conservative politician. The family moved to Bern in 1935. Dürrenmatt began to study philosophy and German language and literature at the University of Zurich in 1941, but moved to the University of Bern after one semester. In 1943 he decided to become an author and dramatist and dropped his academic career. In 1945-46, he wrote his first play, "It is written". On October 11 1946 he married actress Lotti Geissler. She died in 1983 and Dürrenmatt was married again to another actress, Charlotte Kerr, the following year.

Maryse Condé was born as Maryse Boucolon at Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe, the youngest of eight children. Josep Pla i Casadevall (known as José Pla in Spanish) (March 8, 1897, Palafrugell, Girona - April 23, 1981, Llofriu, Girona) was a Catalan journalist and a popular author. Victor Català was the penname of Caterina Albert i Paradís, a catalan writer who took part in catalan Modernism movement. Her literary skill was first recognized in 1898, when she received the Jocs Florals (floral games) prize; soon thereafter, she began using the pseudonym Victor Català, taking it from the protagonist of a novel she never finished.
