Angelos Terzakis

Greek writer of the "Generation of the '30s". He wrote short stories, novels and plays.

He was born in Nafplion in 1907 and lived there until 1915, when he moved to Athens, where he finished school and studied law at the University of Athens. He made his first appearance in Greek literature in 1925 with the short story collection The Forgotten. He took part in the war of 1940 and documented this experience in some of his short stories and especially in his book April. In 1969 he was awarded the prize of Literary Excellence (Αριστείο Γραμμάτων) of the Athens Academy.

He died on 3 August 1979 in Athens.

His son, Dimitri Terzakis, is a noted composer.

Nanni Balestrini was an Italian experimental poet, author and visual artist of the Neoavanguardia movement.
Nanni Balestrini is associated with the Italian writers movement Neoavanguardia. He wrote for the magazine Il Verri, co-directed Alfabeta and was one of the Italian writers publishing 1961 in the anthology I Novissimi. During the 1960s, the group was growing and becoming the Gruppo 63, Balestrini was the editor of their publications. He was born in 1904 in Ayvalık (Κυδωνίες) in Asia Minor and died in Athens in 1973. He wrote many books throughout his career as an author. His most famous book is Number 31328. Elias Venezis is not his real name, but his pen name. He is categorised among the writers of "the generation of the 30s" (=η γενιά του '30).

During the Asia Minor Catastrophe he was 18 years old and was conscripted to a labour battalion of the Turkish State. In his book The Number 31328 - The Book of Slavery he describes the 14 months of his life that he had spent in a concentration camp, forced to hard labour.

Branimir Šćepanović (Бранимир Шћепановић) was a Serbian and Yugoslav writer. He was born in Podgorica, then Kingdom of Yugoslavia. His father was a teacher and a published author. Young Šćepanović started writing while still being a student in high school.

Georgios Vizyinos

Georgios Vizyinos (Greek: Γεώργιος Βιζυηνός) was a Greek prose writer and poet, one of the most significant figures of Greek literature. He was born Georgios Syrmas in Vizyi, Eastern Thrace, on March 8, 1849. He was sent at a young age by his parents to Constantinople to become a clothesmaker but instead chose to study first religion and later literature.

In 1873, he published his first collection of poems "Ποιητικά πρωτόλεια". The following year, Vizyinos published his epic poem "Codrus". His third collection was originally entitled "Ares-Mares-Koukounares" but later re-titled "Breezes of the Bosphorus". All three works received awards for poetry.

Ioannis Kondylakis (1861-1920) was born in Ano Viannos, Crete, scion of the family known fighters of the island. When he was in childhood he fled as a refugee with his family in Piraeus and he returned to his hometown in 1869. There he learned how to read and write and then he began his high school studies at Heraklion and in 1884 he graduated from high school Varvakeios in Athens.

Vassilis Vassilikos (Greek: Βασίλης Βασιλικός) was a prolific Greek writer and diplomat. A native of the northern Greek island of Thassos, Vassilikos grew up in Salonika, graduating from law school there before moving to Athens to work as a journalist. Due to his political activities, he was forced into exile following the 1967 military coup, where he spent the next seven years.

Hatzis was born in Ioannina (Epirus) northwestern Greece, the son of the author and journalist, Georgios Hatzis. He graduated from the Zosimaia school in his home land. Nikos Gatsos was born in a small village of Peloponnese.
