Ephameron

Ephameron is de nom de pinceau van huisillustrator Eva Cardon, Doctor in de Kunsten en zowel in binnen- als buitenland een graag geziene grafische gast. Ze is curator van het festival Grafixx, de jaarlijkse viering van beeldverhaal en illustratie.

Haar werk doet verslag van een gevoelige kant van de wereld, documenteert de intieme en onopvallende drama’s die samen een leven vormen. Ephameron publiceert illustraties in o.a. The New York Times, De Standaard, De Tijd, L’Echo en Knack Weekend. Ze neemt deel aan en cureert tentoonstellingen over de hele wereld.

Marlen Haushofer

Marlen Haushofer was born in Frauenstein, Molln, Austria on April the 11th, 1920. She went to a Catholic gymnasium that was turned in a public school under the Nazi regime. She started her studies on German Language and Literature, in 1940 in Vienna and later on in Graz. She married the dentist Manfred Haushofer in 1941, they divorced in 1950 but reunited in 1957. They had a son together, in addition to the one son she had brought to their “second” marriage.

Although Marlen Haushofer won prizes for her work and gained critics laud, she was an almost forgotten author until the Women's Movement rediscovered her, with special attention of the role of women in the male-dominated society themes in her work.

Frank Westerman

Frank Westerman (Emmen, 1964) groeide op in Assen en studeerde Tropische Cultuurtechniek aan de Landbouwuniversiteit Wageningen. In 1987 woonde hij een jaar in de Andes van Peru, waar hij de irrigatiemethoden van Aymara-indianen onderzocht. Frank studeerde cum laude af en mag Ir. voor zijn naam zetten.

Zijn allereerste journalistieke reportages schreef Frank toen hij nog studeerde. Zo versloeg hij voor Het Parool de poging van Mario Vargas Llosa om president van Peru te worden en de Amerikaanse anti-drugscampagne om de teelt van coca uit te roeien in de Chapare-regio van Bolivia.

Ze studeerde aan twee kunstacademies en een schrijversschool.

Brecht Evens

Belgian cartoonist Brecht Evens was born in 1986 and studied illustration in Ghent, Belgium. Important mentors were his illustration teacher Goele Dewanckel and cartoonist/comedy coach/zen master Randall Casaer.

Nora Krug

Nora Krug is a German-American author, illustrator and associate professor in the Illustration Program at the Parsons School of Design in New York City.
