Elena Kostyuchenko
Elena Kostyuchenko was born in Yaroslavl, Russia in 1987. She began working as a journalist when she was fourteen, and spent seventeen years reporting for Novaya Gazeta, Russia’s last major independent newspaper until it was shut down in the spring of 2022 in response to her reporting from Ukraine. She is the author of two books published in Russian, Unwanted on Probation and We Have to Live Here, and the recipient of the European Press Prize, the Gerd Bucerius Award, and the Paul Klebnikov Prize. Her newest book, I Love Russia: Reporting From a Lost Country was published with Penguin Press in 2023.

Erik Baláž sa narodil v Stropkove v roku 1978. V roku 2002 vyštudoval odbor Ekológia lesa na Lesníckej fakulte Technickej univerzity vo Zvolene. Už počas štúdií bol aktívny v kampaniach Lesoochranárskeho zoskupenia VLK, ktorých cieľom bola ochrana prirodzených lesov. Je jedným z hlavných organizátorov občianskej iniciatívy My sme les, ktorá vznikla v roku 2017 za účelom ochrany národných parkov a vzácnych lesov proti masívnej ťažbe, a členom Slovenského ochranárskeho snemu. V roku 2017 získal ocenenie Biela vrana za „výnimočnú vytrvalosť a oddanosť svojmu poslaniu získať ľudí pre ochranu prírody, schopnosť vytvárať v nich vzťah k prírode a spájať rôznych aktérov“.
