Üsküdar Amerikan Kız Lisesi ve Ankara Üniversitesi Siyasal Bilgiler Fakültesi mezunudur. Gazeteciliğe TRT'de başlamıştır. Nokta dergisinin haber müdürlüğünü yaptı. Söz gazetesiyle patronsuz Sokak dergisinin kurucularından biriydi. 1990-92 yılları arasında Hamburg'da eşcinsellik, kadın ve İslam konularını araştırdı. Türkiye'ye dönünce, Cumhuriyet gazetesinin haber müdürlüğünü üstlendi; ardından on yıl süreyle Cumhuriyet Dergi 'yi çıkarttı. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk'le 2,5 yıl evli kalan Latife Hanım'ın hayatını araştırıp yazdığı Latife Hanım 2006'da yayımlandı. 2010'da "Biyografisine Sığmayan Kadın" altbaşlığını taşıyan "Halide Edip" adlı kitabı yayımlandı. Gazeteci Oral Çalışlar ile evlidir.

Vigdis Hjorth

Chingiz Aitmatov

Feride Çiçekoğlu, 1951 yılında Ankara'da doğdu. Maarif Koleji ve Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi'nde okudu. Mimar olarak Fullbright bursu ile, Pennsylvania Üniversitesi'nde doktora tezini yazdı.
