Born in Tunisia under French protectorate, from a Tunisian Jewish mother, Marguerite Sarfati, and a Tunisian-Italian Jewish father, François Memmi, he speaks French and Tunisian-Judeo-Arabic. He claims to be of Berber ancestry. At first he wrote plays and novella, but also worked as a journalist. Lise öğrenimini Ankara Atatürk Lisesi'nde gerçekleştirdi. 1982 yılında Ankara Üniversitesi Siyasal Bilgiler Fakültesi Basın Yayın Yüksek Okulu'ndan mezun oldu. 1979'dan itibaren sırasıyla Yankı, Hürriyet, Nokta, Haftaya Bakış, Söz ve Tempo'da çalıştı. 1986'da İngiltere'de London School of Journalism'i bitirdi. Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi İktisadi ve İdari Bilimler Fakültesi Siyaset Bilimi ve Kamu Yönetimi bölümünde siyaset bilimi dalında yüksek lisansını 1988'de, aynı bölümünde doktorasını 1996'da tamamladı. Televizyona 1988'de TRT'de Seynan Levent ile başladı. 1989'da 32. Gün'de çalışmaya başladı.

Joost Abraham Maurits Meerloo (March 14, 1903 – November 17, 1976) was a Dutch Doctor of Medicine and psychoanalyst.

Born as Abraham Maurits 'Bram' Meerloo in The Hague, Netherlands, he came to United States in 1946, was naturalized in 1950, and resumed Dutch citizenship in 1972. Dr. Meerloo was a practicing psychiatrist for over forty years. He did staff psychiatric work in Holland and worked as a general practitioner until 1942 under Nazi occupation, when he assumed the name Joost to fool the occupying forces and in 1942 fled to England (after barely eluding death at the hands of the Germans). He was chief of the Psychological Department of the Dutch Army-in-Exile in England.

Nazim Hikmet was born on January 15, 1902 in Salonika, Ottoman Empire (now Thessaloníki, Greece), where his father served in the Foreign Service. He was exposed to poetry at an early age through his artist mother and poet grandfather, and had his first poems published when he was seventeen.
