Agustín de Foxá

Don Agustín de Foxá y Torroba, III conde de Foxá y IV marqués de Armendáriz, poeta, novelista, periodista y diplomático español.

Sus primeros versos los publicó en De todo un poco, revista del Colegio del Pilar. Estudió Derecho en su ciudad natal; en 1930 ingresó en la carrera diplomática y fue destinado a Sofía y Bucarest. Su colega Edgar Neville fue una de sus primeras amistades literarias. Colaboró en revistas como La Gaceta Literaria, Héroe y Mundial, y en la prensa diaria (en ABC desde 1930). Su primer libro, La niña del caracol (Madrid, 1933), con dedicatorias a Ramón Gómez de la Serna, María Zambrano y Marichalar, fue editado y prologado por Manuel Altolaguirre; mezcla elementos del Modernismo con otros procedentes de las Vanguardias

Mario Benedetti (full name: Mario Orlando Hamlet Hardy Brenno Benedetti Farugia) was a Uruguayan journalist, novelist, and poet. Despite publishing more than 80 books and being published in twenty languages he was not well known in the English-speaking world. He is considered one of Latin America's most important 20th-century writers.

Benedetti was a member of the 'Generation of 45', a Uruguayan intellectual and literary movement and also wrote in the famous weekly Uruguayan newspaper Marcha from 1945 until it was forcibly closed by the military government in 1973, and was its literary director from 1954. From 1973 to 1985 he lived in exile, and returned to Uruguay in March 1983 following the restoration of democracy.

Manuel Chaves Nogales

Manuel Chaves Nogales (1897-1944) nació en Sevilla. Se inició muy joven en el oficio de periodista, primero en su ciudad natal y más tarde en Madrid. Leopoldo García-Alas y Ureña (25 April 1852 – 13 June 1901), also known as Clarín, was a Spanish realist novelist born in Zamora. He died in Oviedo.

Alas spent his childhood living in León and Guadalajara, until he moved to Oviedo in 1863. There he studied for the Bachillerato (B.A. degree) and began his law studies. He lived in Madrid from 1871 to 1878, where he began his career as a journalist (adopting the pen-name "Clarín" in 1875) and he graduated with the thesis El Derecho y la Moralidad (Law and Morality) in 1878. He taught in Zaragoza from 1882 to 1883. In 1883 he returned to Oviedo to take up a position as professor of Roman law.
