Viktar Martinowich

Viktar Martinowich (Belarusian: Віктар Вале́р'евіч Марціновіч, Russian: Ви́ктор Вале́рьевич Мартино́вич; born September 9, 1977) is a Belarusian writer, journalist, and art critic.
Martinowich was born in Ashmyany. In 1999 he graduated from the Faculty of Journalism of Belarusian State University (BSU) and obtained a PhD from BSU in 2002 with a thesis about the Vitebsk avant-garde in Soviet newspapers in the 1920s.
From 2002 to 2015, he was a deputy editor-in-chief of the BelGazeta. On June 27, 2008, at the Vilnius Academy of Arts (Lithuania), he defended his PhD thesis on the topic "Vitebsk avant-garde (1918-1922): socio-cultural context and art criticism". He teaches at the European Humanities University.

Karatkievič was born in 1930 in Vorša, Viciebsk region. In 1954, he graduated from the Philological Department of Kyiv University and taught first in a village school in the Kyiv region of Ukraine and then in his home town, Vorša (Belarus). Édouard Louis

Édouard Louis is a French writer born October 30, 1992. Édouard Louis, born Eddy Bellegueule, grew up in Hallencourt (Somme) before entering theater class at the Lycée Madeleine Michelis in Amiens. Vasil Bykaŭ

Vasiĺ Bykaŭ was born in the village Byčki, not far from Viciebsk in 1924. In 1941 he was in Ukraine when Germany attacked the USSR. At first seventeen-year-old Bykaŭ dug trenches – then he volunteered for the Red Army. For years after the war he continued to serve, returning to the USSR only in the mid-1950s. There he started to work as a journalist for the Hrodna Pravda newspaper. In that same decade his first novellas began to come out, of which the most famous are "Sotnikaŭ", "The Obelisk", "To Go and Not Return", and "To Live Till Sunrise".
