Erik de Graaf kreeg les aan de Kunstacademie te Rotterdam en studeerde af in grafische vormgeving en advertising.
Daarna werkte hij een aantal jaren bij een reclamebureau. Inmiddels is De Graaf creatief directeur van een designbureau.

Sinds een aantal jaar tekent Erik de Graaf strips. Jeugdherinneringen zijn de inspiratie voor zijn strips. Niet alles wat hij tekent heeft hij zo beleefd, maar de strips geven wel een tijdbeeld. Zo hebben de gebruiksvoorwerpen die te zien zijn wel echt bestaan.

In het najaar van 2003 verschenen zijn twee eerste twee albums: Verbleekte herinneringen en Gekleurd geheugen.

The son of a prominent Hungarian-Jewish laryngologist Johann Schnitzler and Luise Markbreiter (a daughter of the Viennese doctor Philipp Markbreiter), was born in Vienna in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and began studying medicine at the local university in 1879.
