Sanne de Boer
Sanne de Boer is a Dutch journalist who has lived in Southern Italy since 2006. She is the first foreign journalist based in Calabria to write about the 'Ndrangheta, the Calabrian mafia, and regularly appears on TV and radio as a mafia expert. Her first book, Mafiopoli, was published originally in Dutch in 2020 and nominated for the ‘Brusseprijs’, a prestigious award for the best book of journalism. A German translation followed (title: 'Ndrangheta) and in 2024, an updated edition of Mafiopoli was published in English.

Wolkers is considered one of the "Great Four" writers of post-World War II Dutch literature, along with Willem Frederik Hermans, Harry Mulisch and Gerard Reve (the latter authors are also known as the "Great Three"). He became noted in the 1960s mainly for his strikingly direct descriptions of sex.
