Ketertarikan Sandiantoro pada dunia jurnalistik dimulai sejakbangku SMA. Dimulai sejak 1992-1998 dengan menjadi reporter dan translator Harian Sore Surabaya Post, dengan menulis di rubrik pendidikan, musik, film, seni-budaya, gaya hidup, otomotif, dan iptek.

Di sela-sela itu (1995-1997) juga bekerja di Creative Department Media Profesional (Medpro), sebuah perusahaanCreative Communications-Media-Public Relations. Pekerjaan dari pendidikan formalnya (Teknik Sipil UK Petra Surabaya) diwujudkan dengan mendirikan CV Integra Mitra Pratama, general conductor and interior design (1998).
