Kristín Helga studied at the University of Barcelona, and later obtained a BA in Spanish and Media Studies from the University of Utah. She has worked as a travel and tour guide, been an air stewardess and a reporter on Icelandic news programmes. Since 1998 she has concentrated on writing and journalism. Her first book, Elsku besta Binna mín (I Love you, Binna my Dearest), came out in 1997 and since then Kristín Helga has become one of Iceland's best loved children's authors.
