Creció en Melipilla, donde asistió al colegio Marambio. En 2004 ingresó a estudiar leyes, graduándose con distinción máxima. En 2007 recibió el Premio Editorial Jurídica. Posteriormente, cursó el magister en prensa de la Pontificia Universidad Católica donde desarrolló una tesis sobre la regulación del lobby. En 2012 la Comisión Fulbright le adjudicó una beca para cursar un posgrado en Teoría del Derecho en la Universidad de Nueva York (NYU). Luego de graduarse en Estados Unidos, fue aceptado en la Universidad de Oxford donde cursó su tercer magíster. En 2015 recibió el galardón Oxford Law Faculty Prize. En 2017 fue finalista del premio Periodismo de Excelencia, en la categoría de mejor columna de opinión.
