Ramanbhai Neelkanth

Sir Ramanbhai Nilkanth, R.B (Gujarati: રમણભાઈ નીલકંઠ; 1868–1928) was a noted author of Gujarati literature. He was also the Mayor of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. He belonged to "Pandit-Yug" or "Goverdhan-Yug". His father, Mahipatram Rupram Nilkanth, was also an author and social worker. He wrote two classics of Gujarati literature namely "Bhadram-Bhadra" and "Rai no Parvat". Ramanbhai Nilkanth– was a renowned short story writer and his wife –Lady Vidyagauri – was one of the state’s first women graduates. His daughter, Vinodinee Neelkanth, was perhaps the first Gujarati woman to get a post-graduate degree from the US. Ashwini Bhatt was born to educationist Harprasad Bhatt and Sharadaben Bhatt on 12 August 1936 in Ahmedabad. He graduated in psychology. He was interested in theatre and he worked as a child artist in Gujarati adoption of Bengali drama Bindur Chhele (Bindu No Kiko). He had failed in several business ventures like poultry farm to a vegetable vendor before starting career as a writer. He moved to United States in 2002. He died on 10 December 2012 at Dallas, Texas, US

He wrote twelve novels and three novellas. He translated several works in Gujarati including Alistair MacLean and James Hadley Chase. He also translated Freedom at Midnight by Collins and Lapierre in Gujarati as Ardhi Rate Azadi which was critically acclaimed.

Pannalal Patel

Pannalal Patel was born on 7 May 1912 in Mandli village (now in Dungarpur, Rajasthan) to Nanasha aka Nanalal and Hiraba, an Anjana Chaudhari family. He is youngest among his four siblings. His father was a farmer and used to recite Ramayana, Okhaharan and other mythological stories for his village. This earned his house a nickname "abode of learning".
