Parvaneh Pourshariati

Parvaneh Pourshariati is Associate Professor of Islamic and Iranian Studies in the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures at the Ohio State University. She also has courtesy appointments in the department of History at OSU and the Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies (CMRS) at the university, where she teaches regularly. Born in Tehran, where she completed her primary and secondary education, Pourshariati received her BA in sociology from New York University and her M. Phil. and PhD. degrees in history from Columbia University. Her research focuses on the social and cultural history of the Middle East, the Caucasus, Iran and Central Asia, in the late antique and medieval periods. Her general interests lie in cross-cultural

Abbas Maroufi (عباس معروفی) was an Iranian novelist and journalist.

Raised and educated in Tehran, Abbas Maroufi studied dramatic arts at Tehran University while teaching at schools and writing for the newspapers. He served as the editor in chief of the literary Gardun magazine from 1990 to 1995. His first published work was a collection of short stories entitled Into the Sun. He also wrote a few plays which were performed on stage. In his The Last Superior Generation, he touched on social themes.
