Eve Koguce
I’ve been in love with books for as long as I remember myself. The typewriter my first attempts at writing had been made at still sits proudly on its shelf in the basement, and when I go down there, I always have an urge to save it from its exile.

I’ve always been writing something. Diaries, letters, poems, short stories. I’d even attempted to write a novel a couple of times when I was about thirteen. Still, there was always something more important than my writing.
There was always “real life” reminding me of its undeniable claims. “You have to study, you have to work, there is no place for fruitless dreaming,” it whispered. And I moved forward as if running on rails I couldn’t step down from.
I’d spent fifteen years, trying to fit into the o -

Her preferred diet is fantasy epics—full of complex intrigue, morally ambiguous characters and tragic ends—though she does enjoy the occasional quippy, fast-paced action adventure. (Sappy romances, however, give her indigestion.)
When she’s not binge-reading the next doorstopper on her TBR or engaging in frantic theory crafting in between Brandon Sanderson and Will Wight book releases, she likes to spit bars in her best Angelica Schuyler impression and walk her cat. -

ANNE M. SMITH-NOCHASAK grew up in a farmhouse in rural Nova Scotia, Canada, a place of laughter, hard work, and the occasional unexplainable sound in the night. She is of diverse ancestry, with a background including priests, preachers, and privateers. She was a strawberry picker, waitress, nursing home worker, oven insulator, and many other things before turning to teaching. For many years she taught in high school, elementary, and resource programs, and her fondest memories are of teaching in northern and isolated Indigenous communities, where there was such joy and partnership on the learning journey. Her son traveled with her for many years, but as an adult returned to his northern birthplace to live and learn his father's ways.
