Joan grew up in Elmira, a small town in New York State, and now makes her home in Las Vegas, Nevada, with her silky terrier pup, Sweet Pea, a character in her Death Card Series.
She grew up in a family who always read books and were happy to discuss the storyline and its plots, encouraging the idea of becoming a writer. In her twenties, she began to test the waters by writing short stories, which was short-lived when marriage and children took over. It wasn’t until 2008 that she began to write her books in earnest.

My attempts at becoming an author are quite literally a mash up of what I’ve adored in my favorite books coupled with a myriad of life experiences. The Sci-fi obsession started in grade school where I fell in love with Ray Bradbury’s Illustrated Man. So, what you’ve got here is a book/space nerd teacher who’s addicted to audible. I’ve truly wanted to become a writer since my sophomore year of high school. Now that fifty is knocking on my door, I’ve moved on it. Lesson here-stop waiting to create a life you love.
Ian R. Lazarus has been publishing technical articles and opinion pieces in various magazines since 1989. “The Con” was his first novel, drawing from his international business travels across five continents. A native of Detroit and graduate from the University of Michigan, he now lives in San Diego with his wife, three children, and occasionally a cat.
