Nova Jacobs is the author of the novels The Stars Turned Inside Out and The Last Equation of Isaac Severy, which was a Book of the Month selection, a Best Mystery of 2018 by The Wall Street Journal, and was nominated for a 2019 Edgar Award by the Mystery Writers of America. She is a co-writer with Donnie Eichar on the true-crime New York Times Best Seller Dead Mountain: The Untold True Story of the Dyatlov Pass Incident. She has an MFA from the USC School of Cinematic Arts and is a recipient of the Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Raymond Thornton Chandler was an American-British novelist and screenwriter. In 1932, at the age of forty-four, Chandler became a detective fiction writer after losing his job as an oil company executive during the Great Depression. His first short story, "Blackmailers Don't Shoot", was published in 1933 in Black Mask, a popular pulp magazine. His first novel, The Big Sleep, was published in 1939. In addition to his short stories, Chandler published seven novels during his lifetime (an eighth, in progress at the time of his death, was completed by Robert B. Parker).
