I was born in 1988 in Croatia, as an intersex, predominantly male child. After a diagnosis of mixed gonadal dysgenesis and several years of medical supervision, a sex reassignment surgery - from male to female - was done at the age of six, which is the reason I am here now. This event is the core of my book Pussified: A sex change story I didn't have the balls to tell, and I am taking willing participants on a brief journey with me. You are in for a ride.
I grew up in a family with five boys, which taught me a great deal about patience and persistence. My parents were incredibly supportive of creativity, and thanks to their influence, my brothers and I pursued various forms of art.
I am married to a wonderful and supportive wife, and I have three daughters who will someday rule the world.
Though I earned a Bachelor of Arts in English, I gained more knowledge from David Farland/Wolverton and Priscilla Van Der Weele-Smith.
Martha Hunt Handler grew up dreaming of wolves and has always understood that her role in this lifetime is to tell stories and be a voice for nature. She has been an environmental consultant, a magazine columnist, an actress, and a polar explorer, among other occupations. When she and her four children relocated from Los Angeles to New York more than twenty years ago she began to literally hear the howls of wolves. This marked the beginning of her work advocating on behalf of wolves at the Wolf Conservation Center (nywolf.org). Winter of the Wolf is Martha's debut novel.
