Martin Jurík sa narodil v roku 1973 v Bratislave, jednu dekádu prežil v Nemecku, kde v roku 1997 vydal zbierku "surreálnych, čiastočne fantastických poviedok", ale ako vraví, na prvé miesto vždy kládol myšlienku a nie rámec diela. Pracoval aj ako novinár, no redaktorský chlebíček sa mu zdal príliš hektický, a tak sa uchýlil k pokojnejšej práci prekladateľa (predovšetkým z nemčiny), ktorou sa živí dodnes.
Na domácej pôde sa zviditeľnil až v roku 2011 debutovým polit-trilerom Kým nás smrť nerozdelí, nasledovalo pokračovanie Harlekýn a potom už sa kormidlo stočilo smer fantastika - bláznivá fantasy Škoricovník (Zlatá cesta) so spoluautorom Michalom Ružičkom a v roku 2014 steampunková alternatívna história pod názvom Projekt Zenta.
