Keum Suk Gendry-Kim was born in the town of Goheung in Jeolla Province, a town famous for its beautiful mountains and sea. Her graphic novels include The Song of My Father, Jiseul, and Kogaeyi, which have been translated and published in France. She also wrote and illustrated The Baby Hanyeo Okrang Goes to Dokdo, A Day with My Grandpa, and My Mother Kang Geumsun. She received the Best Creative Manhwa Award for her short manhwa “Sister Mija,” about a comfort woman. Malaka Gharib is a journalist, cartoonist and graphic novelist.

She is the author of "I Was Their American Dream," a graphic memoir published in 2019 about being first-generation Filipino Egyptian American, which won an Arab American Book Award in 2020. Then in 2022, she published "It Won't Always Be Like This," a graphic memoir about her summers in the Middle East.

Lonnie Mann

I grew up doodling in class and reading comics outside of class.

Lee Lai

Lee Lai is an Australian cartoonist living in Tio’tia:ke (known as Montreal, Quebec).
She has been featured in The New Yorker, McSweeneys and The New York Times, and was recently named one of the 5 under 35 honorees by the National Book Foundation. Mardou was born and raised in Manchester, England in 1975. After gaining her BA in English Literature she started making mini-comics, mostly stories about women trying to figure life out. Beth Hetland

Beth Hetland is an American cartoonist, illustrator and educator.
Hetland studied fine arts at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (BFA 2009) and comics at The Center for Cartoon Studies in Vermont (MFA 2011). She is now back at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago as an adjoint Professor, where she mostly lectures about cartooning and comics writing.
After self-publishing comics for years, her first major graphic novel, the psychological horror Tender, was published in 2024 by Fantagraphics.

Lucy Knisley

Beginning with an love for Archie comics and Calvin and Hobbes, Lucy Knisley (pronounced "nigh-zlee") has always thought of cartooning as the only profession she is suited for. A New York City kid raised by a family of foodies, Lucy is a graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago currently pursuing an MFA at the Center for Cartoon Studies.
