Kees Matthijssen

Kees Matthijssen (1961) diende bij Defensie van 1981 tot 2023. Hij was onder andere compagniescommandant in Srebrenica (1995), bataljonscommandant in Irak (2004), taskforce commandant in Afghanistan (2008/2009) en force commander in Mali (2022/2023). Voor zijn (inter)nationale inzet voor vrede en veiligheid is hij drager van o.a. het Duitse Ehrenkreuz der Bundeswehr en het Franse Légion d’honneur. Hij is Koninklijk onderscheiden als Officier in de Orde van Oranje-Nassau met de zwaarden.
