John and is wife Barbara have lived on the island of Roatan in the Western Caribbean for the last 16 years. As a former International sales director, John has visited over 47 countries around the world. Since moving to Roatan, John has taught middle school earth science in the local expat school, created a radio station, written for the local magazine, run a high end boutique hotel and restaurant as well as being a realtor for the last 10 years. John enjoys storytelling, playing his guitar and tinkering with his beloved old Jeeps.

Jemil Metti was born in Long Island, New York to an Iraqi father and a Hungarian mother who passed away when he was two months old. After two years of American boarding school commencing in 1954, he was transferred to Beirut, Lebanon for a one-year stint before ending up in Baghdad, Iraq in 1957.
