Joan Manuel Gisbert nació cuando un otoño se encaminaba a su plenitud, hecho que siempre ha ejercido una sutil influencia en su vida. Vivió sus tres primeros años, hasta la prematura muerte de su padre, muy cerca del Parque Güell, de Gaudí, que fue muchas veces escenario de sus juegos, en aquellos tiempos en que las empinadas calles que conducen al recinto estaban casi siempre solitarias, sin sombra ni presagio de los cientos de miles de visitantes de todo el mundo que, décadas más tarde, las recorrerían cada temporada.
