I was born in 1959 in Kyiv. In 1976, I enrolled at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Faculty of Cybernetics, specializing in applied mathematics. After completing my fourth year, I transferred to the A. F. Mozhaysky Military Space Academy (VIKI) in Leningrad, entering directly into the fifth year of my education. In 1981 I graduated as a military engineer-mathematician—a deliberate and refreshing new start in my life.
