Hartmann von Aue

Hartmann von Aue († vermutlich zwischen 1210 und 1220) gilt neben Wolfram von Eschenbach und Gottfried von Straßburg als der bedeutendste Epiker der sogenannten mittelhochdeutschen Klassik um 1200. Gemeinsam mit Heinrich von Veldeke steht er am Beginn des aus Frankreich übernommenen höfischen Romans. Von ihm sind die Verserzählungen Erec, Gregorius oder Der gute Sünder, Der arme Heinrich, Iwein, ein unter dem Namen Klagebüchlein bekanntes allegorisches Streitgespräch sowie einige Minne- und Kreuzlieder überliefert.

Ernst Theodor Wilhelm Hoffmann, better known by his pen name E. T. A. Hoffmann (Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann), was a German Romantic author of fantasy and horror, a jurist, composer, music critic, draftsman and caricaturist. His stories form the basis of Jacques Offenbach's famous opera The Tales of Hoffmann, in which Hoffman appears (heavily fictionalized) as the hero. He was born into a French Huguenot family in the Prussian town of Neuruppin, where his father owned a small pharmacy. Robert Musil

Austrian writer.

He graduated military boarding school at Eisenstadt (1892-1894) and then Hranice, in that time also known as Mährisch Weißkirchen, (1894-1897). These school experiences are reflected in his first novel, The Confusions of Young Törless.

He served in the army during The First World War. When Austria became a part of the Third Reich in 1938, Musil left for exile in Switzerland, where he died of a stroke on April 15, 1942. Musil collapsed in the middle of his gymnastic exercises and is rumoured to have died with an expression of ironic amusement on his face. He was 61 years old.

Hans Theodor Woldsen Storm (1817 – 1888) was a German poet and author.

He was born in Husum ("the grey town by the grey sea") on the west coast of Schleswig of well-to-do parents. While still a student of law, he published a first volume of verse together with the brothers Tycho and Theodor Mommsen.

He worked as a lawyer in Schleswig-Holstein, but emigrated to Thuringia in 1851, leaving his mother's household, and did not return until 1864 to become a writer leaving his homeland in Denmark.

Gottfried von Strassburg

Gottfried von Strassburg (died c. 1210) is the author of the Middle High German courtly romance Tristan, an adaptation of the 12th-century Tristan and Iseult legend.
