Ellen Airgood
I grew up on a small farm, the youngest of four children. My father was a blacksmith and a schoolteacher. For the last nineteen years I’ve been a waitress in Grand Marais, Michigan. I was twenty-five when I came to this tiny, Lake Superior town, on a camping trip with my sister, and fell in love with the man who made my cheese sandwich and chocolate malt at the local diner. We met, exchanged assessing, almost challenging gazes, and six months later we got married. I told my sister we would, on the way back to our campsite that first day. “You’re crazy,” she said worriedly. But pretty soon she grinned, shook her head, started getting into the spirit of it. “Well,” she said. “This is going to be interesting.” And it has been.

Hello, The Palace Dressmaker (or The Memory Dress as it is known in the USA) may be my most glamorous novel yet. Its opening scene takes place at Christie’s auction house in New York in 1997 during the sale of Princess Diana’s dresses. Eighty dresses were listed to sell that evening but only 79 did. One of them is missing and it is what happened to this missing dress that is the central mystery of my novel and the love story that unfolds over thirty years across its pages. I hope you will enjoy the tour through some of the most famous dresses in Diana’s wardrobe. I certainly enjoyed retracing where some of these incredible gowns were worn in order to write this story.

I was born dancing until the age of 16 when I started singing. It didn't take long to find my way into the musical HAIR where I could dance and sing at the same time! Writing was something I did almost every day in a journal, or as a poem, a song, a script or a story.I wrote my first book when I was 35, Being Beautiful, based on my discoveries in the field of healing and anti-aging. Five other non fiction books in the genre of beauty/health/well being followed...some of them best-sellers. It was a natural next step for me to found the first natural skin care company in the US, Zia Cosmetics, Inc.It is now defunct after being purchased by the Hain Celestial Group in 2005.
