F. Springer

F. Springer (15 January 1932 – 7 November 2011) was the pseudonym of Carel Jan Schneider, a Dutch foreign service diplomat and writer.

Schneider was born in Batavia, Dutch East Indies. He spent World War II in a Japanese internment camp,[1] and afterward lived and worked in New Guinea, New York, Bangkok, Brussels, Dhaka, Luanda, East Berlin (he was the next-to-last Dutch ambassador there[1]), and Tehran all of which have served as locations for the novels and stories which he has published.

His laconic style is reminiscent of F. Scott Fitzgerald or Graham Greene,[1] and he often adopts an ironic perspective on his often tragic subject matter, such as in Teheran, een zwanezang, a love story set against the background of the Iranian Revolution.

Hermine Marie Leendert Heijermans (1902-1983) was a Dutch stage actress, author and politician. She was the daughter of playwright Herman Heijermans and, under the name Minny Heijermans, performed in her father's company, the Tooneelvereeniging, from 1921 to 1938. After the Second World War she remained active as a comedian. Heijermans is best remembered as an author: she wrote several novels and a biography about her father. In 1976 she edited the ‘Boekenweekgeschenk’ titled “Snikken en smartlapjes”. In the 1960s and ’70s she was a columnist for Sekstant, the magazine of the NVSH. Heijermans was also member of the Amsterdam city council on behalf of the CPN.

C. Buddingh'

Cornelis Buddingh' (roepnaam: Kees) was een Nederlands dichter, prozaïst en vertaler. Hij dankt zijn bekendheid vooral aan de gedichten De blauwbilgorgel (1943) en Pluk de Dag (1966).

Jan Wolkers

Jan Hendrik Wolkers was a Dutch author, sculptor and painter.

Wolkers is considered one of the "Great Four" writers of post-World War II Dutch literature, along with Willem Frederik Hermans, Harry Mulisch and Gerard Reve (the latter authors are also known as the "Great Three").
